HB’s Tips and Quotes for Tuesday

As women in business we often find ourselves struggling to keep personal life, family life and business life in balance. We are the “Asiyyah of all trades.” Raising children, keeping the household in order, keeping up with our marital duties, keeping up with our spiritual duties, working, running a business, going to school, spending “Me” time to renew ourselves, and spending time with our loved ones and friends can be such a struggle to balance.

As a life coach and business coach for women I often hear stories that make me cringe at the thought that I can never really help them get it together. The only thing I can do is provide proven techniques/tools, motivation, encouragement, and an ear without judgement when they are struggling to achieve their goals. God is in control ultimately and that is what I make a point of to each and every one of my clients. I remind them that they have limited control and that attaching themselves to a desired outcome will leave them frustrated when things do not go as planned.  I make sure to tell them that all they need to do is do their part, do the best that they can do, and God takes care of the outcome.

Particularly, in the area of business, women find themselves going nuts and losing much needed sleep at the thought that things are just never going to go right after an unplanned event causes an obstacle in their business. it just throws everything else off. They end up spending more time trying to prevent or fix the problem and less time with family and friends and even paying attention to themselves for fear of never getting things back on track in their business. I remind them that sometimes obstacles happen for good things to take place but more importantly they made need to take a break away from it all to come back rejuvenated and with a fresh mind. Neglecting everything else to get one area of your life in order can cause more disaster than expected. This work/life balance ordeal is pretty hard and we all must work day by day because it is not something you can just plan and hope to make it work only one time. You have to keep trying different methods until you find what works best for you.

Andrea Jung , CEO of Avon, says “Sometimes as a leader of a growing organization you have to fire yourself on Friday and hire yourself on Monday with fresh eyes.” I believe this is true in business but much more true to expand this thought for other areas of your life as well for a balanced effect!

My dear beloveds it would be such a pleasure to hear more stories of women taking a break from all they do daily to unwind and come back renewed! I speak to myself first!

Don’t just dream your way to better health and fitness!

Diet and exercise

Many of us spend year after year making commitments to live a healthier life. The thing that is most puzzling to me is that we start out highly energized and motivated to do all we can to move towards better health. At about week 3 or 4 or sometimes sooner than that, we just GIVE UP. I read some statistics and asked some people to found out that basically they feel like they are not losing the weight fast enough and they are always hungry.

I know this all to well because, about 10 years ago, I was impatient and always hungry when I began working out and changing my diet to better foods . It was like my body could not catch up with all that was happening and it was as if my appetite was saying “hello I don’t want to starve you anymore”! I never was a diet junkie but I loved to exercise! I used every excuse to not work out after I did not see much results. I had been 145 pounds for the longest until I was 28 years old and 190 pounds. I tried but I was not trying hard enough. This was tough for me and I just wanted the fat to all go away. I had just delivered my daughter by c-section and many people were saying it was the cause of all my weight gain. I did not believe them for a long time because after giving birth to my other 4 children I always lost 25 pounds. I started to walk more often but it did not seem to help so I started using the excuse that the c-section is what caused me to keep this weight. I was unhappy and just feeling unwanted and unattractive to my husband. I gave up! I continued to search for a routine or program that was highly energetic and motivating. I really believed that if I had that, I would stick around long enough lose weight.

Almost 10 years later I met a wonderful sister who is the founder of an online health and fitness program called Dream Body For Life. She was also the founder of a workshop called Dare To live. Both of these programs are a part of her company, Dream Big And Grow Rich(www.dreambigandgrowrich.com) and I am thankful to Allah for putting her in my life! I participated in both and it has propelled me to take massive action to reach goals in all areas of my life! Allah is Akbar! What are your biggest challenges when attempting to accomplish your goals?

accomplish,ambitious,butterflies,careers,clouds,concepts,destiny,fotolia,freedom,goals,opportunities,steps,success,teams,visions

There are two very important questions you should ask yourself when setting goals.

1.What are your biggest challenges when attempting to accomplish your goals? 2.How do you currently handle change and challenges?

Goal setting can help you manage change and develop resiliency. Basically, managing change goes along with how well you handle, what I often say, “Life Cards”.  You know those circumstances that come at you so unexpectedly that you barely have time to figure out a plan of how to handle them? Resiliency means “bouncing back” from difficult and shocking experiences. It involves the the process of adapting well as a result of adversity and stress in your life.

As you move through this goal setting process here are some important factors to keep in mind:

1. Form a network of support.

First and foremost rely on The Creator because He will never let you down. Seek aid with Him first. Next,Form a support system with family, friends and members of your community.Good relationships are key to building strong resilience. Accepting help and support from others also strengthens resiliency.

2. Avoid seeing crises as “the end of the world”.

You can’t alter stressful events, but you can control how you react to them.

3. Accept change as being an inevitable part of living.

Accepting circumstances that cannot be altered can help you gain a better focus on circumstances that you can alter.

4. Move forward and take action towards your (realistic) goals.

Think!…”What’s one thing I can achieve today that helps me move forward to where I want to be?” Make sure to develop a system of core values and principles to work along with your life’s mission.

5. Take Massive action.

Act rather than avoid or detach from problems.  Wishing they go away won’t do you any good!

Until next time…Think positive, Do Things Positive, and Stay Positive!!!

With Success,
